iPad for Educators

iPad for Educators is a comprehensive iPad training program for teachers and other school staff using iPads, brought to you by Justin Baeder, Director of The Principal Center.

After spending thousands of dollars on iPads for your staff, the last thing you want is for them to collect dust. The iPad has amazing potential and is easy to use, but there's a big difference between using the iPad casually and using it to teach. With the right training, the iPad can be a transformative tool.

iPad for Educators is intended to be both comprehensive and differentiated. Rather than providing a single training for your entire staff—whose iPad proficiency may vary widely—we offer our most powerful training sessions in a variey of formats that your staff can access in whatever way fits your schedule, including:

  • Online workshops (webinar format) - keynote presentations demonstrating the iPad's potential for educators, with the opportunity to ask questions via chat or email
  • Screencasts - detailed, step-by-step visual directions for using the iPad, in a downloadable video format
  • Phone and email support
  • Custom trainings (optional) - live, online or on-site sessions designed to meet your school's needs

Rather than offer four or five separate workshops, we're offering iPad for Educators as a single package to meet the needs of all your staff—from complete newbies to iPad aces. Each staff member can access whichever portions of the training are most relevant to their needs.

Both the workshops and the screencasts feature actual onscreen iPad modeling, so you can see exactly what to do and follow along on your iPad.

What's Included?

This training covers the following topics in three presentations, plus bonus screencasts:

  • iPad 101 - Basics of how to use the iPad, install apps, set up accounts, charge, sync, and more
  • iPad and Your Documents - using your iPad to manage documents, photos, notes, email, lesson plans, and more with secure cloud services
  • Teaching and Presenting with iPad - using your iPad as a whiteboard, document camera, video/digital camera, gradebook, and more
  • iPad and Google Apps - how the iPad integrates with your Google Apps account to facilitate collaboration, document sharing, file access, and more
  • Securing Your iPad and Your Data - preventing and responding to loss/theft of your iPad as well as your data using the iPad's built-in security tools

In addition to the live sessions, iPad for Educators includes a variety of screencasts to walk participants step-by-step through specific tasks on the iPad. If you have a specific issue or question that doesn't fit into  one of our workshops, we'll cover it in depth in a screencast.

I really enjoyed it and learned so much really good practical, usable information. I'm an older principal who was surprised my iPad could actually make my job easier.

I was very impressed not only with your presentation style but with the time saving ideas you shared with us. It is going to take some training and work on my part, but everything made such good sense.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: What sessions and topics are included with my registration?
A: Your registration includes the full list of sessions and topics listed above, and you can request additional help or screencasts any time.

Q: Can we determine when to view the training recordings?
A: Yes, all of the sessions are available in HD video (MP4 format), and you'll have full control over how you use them. You can skip around, pause, and watch the recordings in whatever time you have available.

Q: What's the difference between a web conference and a screencast?
A: The main presentations are designed to inform and inspire, and to help you understand how to put your iPad to the best uses.

The screencasts are more detailed and specific, walking you step-by-step through particular tasks on the iPad. They cover individual topics in more depth than the main presentations. You can ask questions via email at any time. You may not be interested in all of our screencasts, but they are very useful when you want to learn exactly how to do something. We can do additional screencasts on any iPad topic you need help with—please feel free to ask at any time.

Q: How long can we keep the recordings, and what format are they in?
A: The recordings of both the web conferences and screencasts are in MP4 video format, playable on virtually any device. You can keep them forever and watch them as many times as you'd like. If you purchase a site license or custom training, staff hired in the future can access the recordings as well.

Q: What if the training becomes outdated?
A: The iPad world changes quickly, and we are constantly updating our training materials to keep them current. Your purchase entitles you to access future updates free of charge, so if you purchase the training now, you'll be able to access our current materials as well as our updated materials in the future.

Q: Do you accept purchase orders?
A: Yes, please see our registration form below and select the Purchase Order option. If your district has special requirements for vendors, please email us at info@principalcenter.com with your requirements. Our IRS form W-9 is available here.
