If you're looking for a new job anywhere in the education profession, one thing you have to understand is that it is competitive, right?

When I got my first job as a teacher, it was not competitive.

And you may have never had a competitive job or hiring process in your life up to this point.

You know, often we're the only qualified people for the jobs we're applying for.

I was one of the only science teachers who applied for the job that I started out in.

And admin is different, right?

There are a lot of jobs that a lot of people are qualified for.

There are lots and lots of people with admin degrees.

And if you're looking for a job outside of a school in an agency of some sort, often there are many, many people applying for those jobs.

And it's competitive in a way that we're not used to in the day to day, right?

Like this is not generally a competitive industry.

you know, sector, we're not competitive towards our coworkers, that kind of thing.

But in the job search process, you do have to be prepared to compete.

So on Friday, we're going to be doing a webinar on how to win that competition, how to prepare yourself for that competition, why you should start now and not wait until the job is posted, A lot of people are caught off guard by how much preparation it takes to put together a cover letter, to put together a good resume, to get recommendation letters, which are really crucial to ask for this time of year.

And I'll tell you how to ask for them so that you actually get a response and you actually have an opportunity to get better.

recommendation letters than you would get if you asked later there are just so many things that you need to take care of now and not wait until the job is posted because when the job is posted you have a very limited time right the clock is ticking you have a deadline to apply for that job and you have a deadline for the interview right they're going to interview whether you're ready or not so it's essential to start preparing not only your application materials but to start practicing for interviews so that you're not just walking in cold right because you would do well to a certain extent if you just went in cold if you just applied on the spur of the moment without a lot of revision put in but you're going to be much much much more competitive if you prepare starting now so on Black Friday is when I traditionally kick off the job search season go to principalcenter.com slash liftoff, and you can register for a free webinar that I do every year.

I've done this every year since maybe 2016 or 2017.

A lot of fun.

We talk about the entire process and just how searching for a job in education works.

If this is something that you haven't done in a long time because you've been in your position for a long time, or perhaps you have been actively engaged in the job search for several years, but haven't gotten to where you want to be, this is a webinar you should not miss.

Everything is free.

I would love to see you there.
